At the end of May summer staff from all over the United States and Canada arrive in Arizona for a week of staff training. Many of these are college students who give of their summer to serve the Lord. The Lord uses a team of counselors and program support staff to carry out His work. The camp atmosphere is not only a great place for the Lord to work in the hearts of campers but also in the hearts of staff members as they study God’s Word alongside their campers.
Summer staff are asked to seek both prayer and financial support from family and friends through the H.O.M.E. (Helping Others Minister Effectively) support program. Periodically throughout the summer, staff write updates to their supporters. God is the Great Provider, and staff are encouraged in their faith as their needs are provided.
Staff Members have opportunity to minister to campers during the week and on weekends have the opportunity to visit different churches in Arizona and Canada. These churches give us the opportunity to participate in special music during the worship service, preaching opportunities for the men, teaching children’s classes for the ladies, and opportunities for fellowship with the church family. It is a blessing to learn from pastors and other believers who are serving faithfully in various ministries.
Testimonies from Former Staff
“A word to describe camp for me is development. As a counselor God taught me how to counsel myself. Also, He showed me purpose for every one of my relationships outside of camp. And since you are out west you get to see God’s beautiful creation all summer long.”
“Through my summers at Grand View Camp the Lord has continually revealed that the Gospel is the Power of God; that changes the hearts of men. Various opportunities such as counseling, clean up crew, or weekend church ministry provide staff members with a multi-faceted view of ministry in the West. I am thankful for the opportunity I have had to be challenged and changed, working for the sake of the Gospel, at Grand View Camp.”
“Working at Grand View is a unique opportunity. Because of the smaller size, you really get to know fellow staff and campers pretty well during each week. It is a blessing to be under good, solid preaching week after week. I would say that while I am involved in ministry to the campers, I am the one who is most challenged to grow and change. Experiencing both the West in AZ and Canada has opened my eyes to the ministry needs that are there. It is such a privilege to be in different churches on the weekends and to meet missionary pastors in both the U.S. and Canada who are faithfully serving the Lord. There is never a dull moment at Grand View. I am thankful for how God has taught me that His Word is sufficient to change lives, especially my own. Working with a group of full time staff who love the Lord and desire to invest in the summer staff was such a benefit to me.”
